The
Hamsa The Hamsa is a talisman in shape of a hand used against the evil
eye. It is worn very often in form of jewelry or amulets. Hamsa means five in
hebrew and arabic. It is also called the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister
of Moses and Aaron. It is a kind of "protecting hand" or "hand
of God". There is an association to the 5 books of Torah because of the
5 fingers. Sometimes they are inscribed with Hebrew prayers.
